Why Aerospace and Aviation Teams Are Switching to Additive Manufacturing
Aerospace and aviation 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is transforming how critical components are designed, tested, and produced. By building parts layer by layer directly from digital designs, 3D printing enables lightweight structures, complex geometries, and rapid production timelines that traditional manufacturing methods struggle to achieve.
For aerospace and aviation applications, this approach reduces lead times, lowers production costs, and supports high-performance requirements without sacrificing accuracy or reliability. From rapid prototyping and validation to tooling and production-ready components, additive manufacturing gives engineers greater design freedom while helping manufacturers improve efficiency, flexibility, and supply chain resilience.
Key Applications of 3D Printing in Aerospace
Rapid Prototyping & Validation
Rapid prototyping for aerospace components allows teams to quickly produce and test parts directly from CAD files. This speeds up design validation, reduces iteration costs, and helps engineers confirm fit, form, and function before moving into production.
Engine Components
Additive manufacturing supports complex aerospace engine components that require strength, accuracy, and optimized internal geometry. Lightweight aerospace brackets and consolidated parts that improve performance while reducing assembly complexity.
Tooling, Jigs & Fixtures
3D printed tooling, jigs, and fixtures provide fast, cost-effective support for aerospace manufacturing and assembly. Custom tools can be produced quickly, adapted as designs change, and optimized for accuracy, repeatability, and ease of use.
From CAD to Certified-Quality Aerospace Prototype Without the Traditional Lead Times

3D printing surface finishes
Choose the surface finish for your parts when uploading your files
- Raw
- Is the default surface finish right out of the printer after all the excess power has been removed by our PowerShot C.
- Polished
- Is the part being tumbled in our PowerShot S and then manually shot-peened, this provides a smooth finish to your part.
- Vapor Polished
- Is the process of smoothing the surface of 3D Printed parts using our PostPro3D machine. The results give your parts the look of professionally made injection molded parts.
