Industrial-Quality 3D Printing for Cosplay Armor & Props

Most cosplayers printing at home know the frustration, warped armor, visible layer lines, parts that don’t survive a full convention day. JawsTec uses industrial HP Multi Jet Fusion and SLA printers to produce cosplay parts with the surface quality, durability, and dimensional accuracy that desktop printers simply can’t match. Why Industrial Printing for Cosplay?

Home printers are great for prototyping. But when your build needs to look good on a convention floor, hold up through a full day of wear, and paint cleanly, industrial printing is the difference. JawsTec’s MJF and SLA processes produce parts with tighter tolerances, smoother surfaces, and stronger mechanical properties than FDM desktop machines, without the post-processing headache of sanding away layer lines for hours.

What We Print

Armor & Helmets From chest plates and pauldrons to full helmets, our MJF PA12 nylon produces rigid, lightweight armor with consistent wall thickness and excellent paint adhesion. Large builds can be split across multiple parts and assembled — our build volumes and tight tolerances make seam alignment clean and straightforward.

Props & Weapons Swords, guns, staffs, gauntlets — props need to look great and survive handling. MJF PA12 gives you a tough, slightly flexible part that won’t crack under stress. For highly detailed hero props where surface resolution matters most, SLA resin delivers crisp fine detail that photographs beautifully.

Choosing the Right Material

Use Case Recommended Material Why
Rigid armor & helmets MJF PA12 Nylon Strong, lightweight, paintable
Flexible joints & straps TPU SLS 86A Durable and bendable
High-detail props & accessories SLA Resin Fine surface resolution, smooth finish
Display pieces & hero props SLA Smooth GP Near-injection-molded surface quality

Finishing Options for Cosplay

The finish you choose matters as much as the material, especially when you’re painting.

Raw — straight off the printer, ideal if you’re doing your own prep work

Media Blasted / Polished — smoothed surface that takes primer and paint evenly without heavy sanding

Vapor Polished — our PostPro3D process produces a near-injection-molded surface finish, ideal for display pieces or parts you want to paint with minimal prep

Dyed — uniform, permanent color that penetrates the surface without affecting dimensions, great for pieces where you want color without painting

FAQ

Can I sand and paint parts from JawsTec? Yes. MJF and SLA parts both accept standard spray primer and paint. For the smoothest paint finish with minimal prep, we recommend ordering with our Polished or Vapor Polish finish.

My helmet is too large for a single print — what do I do? Split your STL into sections before uploading. Our team can advise on optimal split points to minimize visible seams. Our EOS P770 SLS has a build volume of 380 x 700 x 580mm, one of the largest in the industry, which handles most single-piece builds.

How long until I get my parts? Standard lead times are 3–5 business days. Need them before a convention? Contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate your timeline.

What file formats do you accept? We accept STL, STEP, OBJ, and most standard 3D file formats.
