Elongation at break measures how much a material can stretch before it fractures. It’s expressed as a percentage of the material’s original length and indicates ductility—how well a material can deform without breaking.
HP MJF PA12 typically offers elongation at break of around 20%, meaning it can stretch to about one-fifth beyond its original length before failing.
This property is important because not all strength comes from rigidity. In many applications, a part needs to flex slightly under stress instead of snapping instantly.

Impact Resistance

Impact resistance refers to a material’s ability to absorb and dissipate energy from a sudden force or shock. It measures how well a part can withstand a quick hit or collision without breaking.
HP MJF PA12 has an impact strength of approximately 3.5–4 kJ/m², giving it solid resistance to sudden impacts compared to more brittle 3D printing materials.

Protective housings for electronics or tools benefit from MJF’s impact resistance. If dropped, the housing is more likely to absorb the shock and protect internal components rather than crack or shatter.
